Ouch!
In Ouch!, players explore a desert in search of colorful flowers while avoiding cactus spikes. Six cactus cards are laid out with their backs showing. On your turn, choose a card and pick one side to reveal. If that side shows a thorn, you are pricked and lose the card; otherwise, keep it and its flowers. Some cards feature animals with special abilities, including a viper that can claim another player’s lost card and a fennec fox that grants an extra turn. Red flowers can score bonuses but come with additional risk.
The game ends when someone has collected eight cards or the deck runs out. Score one point per flower, bonuses for the most red flowers and for sets of four differently colored flowers; highest score wins. A 44-card family game by Théo Rivière and Romain Caterdjian, for 2–5 players ages 5+, about 15 minutes.
